Fans Blast ‘Dahmer’ as “Disgusting” After Evan Peters’ Golden Globes Nomination: “The Golden Globes Can Rot For This Nominee”

The Golden Globes continue to be mired in controversy as the highly anticipated nominations for this year’s awards ceremony were announced. After this morning’s announcement, viewers were quick to react when they were left angry by the two nominations for Ryan Murphy‘s controversial series killer series, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.
The show, which recently became the third series in Netflix history to pass 1 billion viewing hours, scored nominations for Best Actor in a Limited Series for Evan Peters‘ portrayal of the infamous serial killer, as well as Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series for Richard Jenkins, who plays Dahmer’s father.
While Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story was undeniably popular, it received backlash from plenty of critics, particularly the families of Dahmer’s victims, who claimed they were never approached about the series.
As for the potential trophy Peters could take home next month, people flooded Twitter to express their disdain over the recognition.
“Evan is taking it and that’s not a good thing,” one wrote, while another said, “I’m sorry but Dahmer no matter what shouldn’t win any awards it’s a disgusting series.”
“Do not fucking reward Evan Peters for that garbage,” a third person demanded.

“Evan Peters is getting nominated for a Golden Globe while just yesterday I saw a video of a little black girl crying saying she got told Dahmer should’ve ki%ed her,” someone else posted. “Ryan Murphy and everyone else involved in that show will burn in hell.”
Another Twitter user wrote, “The Golden Globes can rot for this nominee…. always praising serial k!llers.”

While the public response was largely negative, Peters did manage to keep some fans in his corner, as one defender posted, “I know Dahmer was divisive, but I thought Evan Peters was excellent.”
Another tweeted that they “did not expect” the actor to be nominated, but added that it was “totally deserved.”
Whatever side you’re on, we’ll have answers to whether Peters snags the award in just a matter of weeks. The 2023 Golden Globes air Jan. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
