Cher seemingly confirms her mom, Georgia Holt, has passed away with a short, heartbreaking message to fans

Cher appears to have confirmed the death of her mom, Georgia Holt, at 96.
The icon left a message late in the night simply stating “Mom is gone” followed by a downcast emoji.
While there hasn’t been any further information revealed or confirmed, thousands of people have rushed to her comments to send her condolences, posting lovely images of the two together.
Previously, Cher had updated fans on her mom’s health, revealing in September this year that she had been in hospital.
Cher’s tweets back then read, “Sorry I’ve been Mia. Mom’s been sick off & on. She just got out of Hosp. She had Pneumonia. She’s getting better.”
Georgia Holt celebrated her 96th birthday in June this year, and fans have long suggested she has the same age-defying genetics of her superstar daughter.
Georgia had two daughters, Cher and Georganne LaPiere.
Georgia was a country singer, model, and actress herself, and her amazing life story was commemorated by her pop star daughter in a special 2013 feature documentary.
In 2013, Cher released “Dear Mom, Love Cher”, an hour-long documentary detailing their inspiring mother-daughter relationship and put a spotlight like never before on Georgia’s career as a singer and model.
The touching documentary also detailed Georgia’s childhood in Arkansas, her six marriages and how, while pregnant with Cher, Georgia faced pressure to have an abortion from her own mother.
Having recently left her husband, aged just 19, Georgia sought advice from her mother – who told her to get rid of the child.
Ignoring the advice, Georgia went ahead with the pregnancy, and kept the child, whom she named Cherilyn Sarkisian – despite having to temporarily put her in an orphanage when she was struggling with money.
Ahead of the release of the film, Cher described Georgia as being “exactly like Rocky. She never gives up!”
And to prove it, in that same year, at the age of 87, Georgia released her debut country album Honky Tonk Woman, which had been recorded more than three decades earlier in 1980.
“It is such a thrill. I just cried and I cried and I cried,” Georgia told the Huffington Post. “I cried from the special, I cried from the album coming out after all these years. My father started me singing at age six.”
She enlisted the help of her legendary daughter for the album, with Cher joking, “Mother, do you realize that you have the most expensive backup singer in the world?”
By all accounts, Georgia was always a free thinker and a revolutionary – even her reaction to Cher’s son transitioning is hilariously cool.
Cher’s son, Chaz Bono, was assigned female at birth. But when it was revealed he was male, Cher has recounted in the past, “’My sister, my brother-in-law and [Cher’s other son] Elijah said to her, ‘Georgia, we just wanted to tell you that Chaz is becoming a man’ ‘And Mom said, ‘That’s interesting, sweetheart.’”
