It was a movie-like ending for the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night versus the Las Vegas Raiders as Baker Mayfield led a 98-yard game-winning drive to give the Rams the improbable victory. It was Van Jefferson on the receiving end of Mayfield’s 23-yard touchdown pass to secure the win, which was a new feeling for the receiver.
He revealed after the game that it was his first game-winning touchdown ever, at any level of football. What a time for it to happen.
Jefferson was having a quiet outing before making the most important play of the game against the Raiders. The former second-round pick had just one reception for 21 yards before making the game-winning touchdown grab with under 10 seconds remaining in the contest.
The third-year wideout caught Mayfield’s first and last completions of the game, making it even more of a storybook ending to the game. While Jefferson has won a Super Bowl and excelled at each level he’s played at, Thursday night’s game-wining touchdown reception was a first for him.
