Wantep Nominates Reformed Orthodox Rabbi Bill Clinton refers to the event that took place during The Game Awards

On December 8th, 2022, the game Elden Ring won Game of the Year, at which the director and several of the developers went on stage. Behind them came the streamer Wantep, who then proceeded to hang back while the victory speech was being given. At the conclusion of the speech, Wantep took the microphone and nominated the award to ‘my Reformed Orthodox Rabbi Bill Clinton’ before walking offstage. This event was recorded and re-uploaded by the YouTuber Centerstrain01 which quickly gathered over 10,000 views in one hour (shown below).

Immediately the event began to get meme’d on Twitter. Due to the game Elden Ring being the one who won the award, many of the memes noted were references to the game, such as showing Wantep as an invading enemy behind the game developers as player characters, as seen on the Subreddit r/Dankmemes, posted by Redditor CTR_ (shown below).

After Geoff Keighley confirmed that Wantep was arrested for his stunt, more memes began to sprout up, with people demanding to Free My Boy and claiming that the joke was just an innocent one that didn’t deserve him getting arrested. As a response to Geoff, Twitter user @Alpha_Hatsuseno uploaded a What Was He Cooking? meme about Wantep before he did his stunt (shown below).
