Kelly Clarkson Just Shocked Fans with an Unforgettable Duet
Clarkson #Clarkson
What happens when you get a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame icon and an American Idol champion in one room? Well, it looks a little something like this electrifying duet from Dolly Parton and Kelly Clarkson.
Kelly invited the queen of country herself to The Kelly Clarkson Show to chat about her recent induction into the Roll & Roll Hall of Fame, her first time hearing Whitney Houston sing “I Will Always Love You” and her philanthropic endeavors that had the whole audience reaching for the closest tissue.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper Kelly Clarkson episode without a singing break and when you have Dolly on your show, you take advantage of that.
To start the show, the two powerhouses surprised the audience with a reimagined version of Dolly’s 1980 hit song “9 to 5” that they recorded earlier this year for an upcoming documentary rightfully titled Still Working 9 to 5.
Kelly begins by singing a slowed down first verse and the tempo picks up as soon as Dolly enters a blush, bedazzled dress and sky-high heels. Although, the two have some of the strongest voices in music, Kelly really let Dolly’s voice shine and ended by literally bowing down to the queen of country.
Kelly shared the performance on Instagram with fans where people bombarded the comments with messages like:
“Crying…not sure why this opened the flood gates. Absolute ICONS…plural🔥🔥”
“Goosebumps from head to toe❤️❤️❤️”
“I couldn’t love this duet more 😍😍😍♥️♥️ 2 iconic women right there👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼”
“Girl is there anything you can’t sing!”
The “Since U Been Gone” singer’s performance gave us major flashbacks to 2019 when Kelly performed the cover as her first Kellyoke ever.
After gushing that she’s “been so looking forward to doing the show and just singing with [Kelly],” Dolly went on to promote her brand-new holiday movie, Mountain Magic Christmas with special performances from Willie Nelson, Jimmy Fallon, Miley Cyrus and more.

Ever since hearing the news that she’ll be co-hosting Miley’s New Year’s Eve party, you can bet your bottom dollar that we’ll be watching her Christmas special until we ring in 2023!
