An entity affiliated with Surge Entertainment – a company co-owned by retired New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees – has purchased a 240,000-square-foot shopping center in Metairie where it operates an indoor trampoline park.
6930 Veterans Blvd Invest LLC bought the mostly vacant strip mall in late July at 7000 Veterans Blvd. near David Drive for an undisclosed price, according to Jefferson Parish records. The property previously housed a Kmart that was shuttered in nationwide closures.
The site was sold by GGS LLC, which lists Sazerac Company president William Goldring’s descendants’ trust as an officer, according to Secretary of State records.
Surge Trampoline Park has operated in a 50,000-square-foot space at the property for the past seven years. Managing partner Darren Balsamo said the company is remodeling the strip mall and evaluating what can fit in the remainder of it. It secured a Jefferson Parish permit for a $501,000 renovation that is underway at the site. A decision on an expansion has not been made, he said.
Based in West Monroe, Surge Entertainment operates trampoline parks, entertainment centers and indoor adventure parks around the U.S. Brees has appeared at openings in Lafayette, Bossier City and Jacksonville, Florida in recent years.
Other venues are located in Alabama, Virginia, Oklahoma and the Carolinas, offering golf simulators, arcades, restaurants, party spaces and other entertainment and touting a family-friendly vibe.
