A bullet blasted through the front window and into a nearby house, hitting Mattie Lou Jones, 73, as she sat in her recliner watching TV.

“Never in a million years did I think something like this would happen to her; I thought she would die from old age, or being sickly or something,” Jones’ granddaughter Raven Jolly told WPBF 25 News Investigative Reporter Terri Parker Friday.
Neighbors say bullets were flying everywhere.
“I thought it was fireworks but it was nothing but guns going off in the air. I mean, I could have got shot — I was right by this window,” said next-door neighbor Patricia Holloway.
Stuart Police say an unknown number of suspects opened fire Thursday. Two people sitting in a car were shot and taken to area trauma units.
Police have yet to identify them. They say their injuries are not life-threatening and they are cooperating with the investigation.
Now detectives are narrowing down the suspects.
“They ran. Four ran that way and four ran that way. They were all young,” said Holloway.
Police confirm there have been other shootings in this general area.
They say they are not aware of any gang affiliation or motive in this deadly shootout and are asking people to check surveillance cameras for any possible leads into a shooting that took the life of an innocent grandmother.
“I’m gonna miss her, she’s gonna be truly missed,” said Jolly.
Police said if you have any information on the suspects, you can call Crimestoppers and remain anonymous.
