Democrats were focused on staying political this Thanksgiving, with the intent of keeping everyone “outraged” and “upset,” Rep. James Comer (R-KY) said Thursday.
“I’ve noticed from six years in Congress, watching the Left, [that] their business model revolves around keeping everyone outraged, keeping everyone mad and angry,” Comer said on Fox and Friends.
“Thanksgiving is a day to reflect and be thankful, but the Democrats don’t like that,” he argued, adding that they just want to “blame their outrage” on the Right.
WHITE HOUSE RELEASES THANKSGIVING DINNER TALKING POINTS TOUTING BIDEN’S ‘TOP ACCOMPLISHMENTS’
His comments come one day after the White House released a list of bulleted “talking points” for people to use around the dinner table over the holiday. White House chief of staff Ron Klain tweeted that they would be useful “[for] when ‘that Uncle’ comes ‘at you’ about [President Joe Biden].”
The list includes a slew of “top accomplishment’s” by the Biden administration and Democrats, including measures on infrastructure, lower prescription costs, and efforts to tackle inflation and rising gas prices.
Comer joked with the Fox News hosts that his uncles wouldn’t be impressed with Biden’s accomplishments. He said they would instead tell the White House “what they can do with their wokeism and electric vehicles.”
“I don’t think they’re going to find many uncles in America who are very pleased with the policies of the Biden White House [and] their talking points aren’t going to go very far,” the Kentucky Republican said.
The White House also posted a video to Twitter on Thursday morning touting the accomplishments that they are most thankful for.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, the father of Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who won her Nov. 8 gubernatorial election in Arkansas, also blasted the Biden administration for its “self-inflated assessment.”
“I’m thankful that Joe Biden’s White House decided that none of us were smart enough to come up with a conversation,” Mike Huckabee joked.
“That may be the most self-inflated assessment I’ve ever seen from a political figure … from a guy who can’t put a sentence together for God’s sake,” he told the Fox News hosts, adding “it’s almost like taking credit for the sun coming up.”

When asked if Congress is as divided as it seems from the media coverage, Comer said it’s getting “more partisan.” He blamed some of this on recent elections that have pushed more moderate candidates out.
Having 435 districts with “vastly different” ideologies doesn’t help, he added.
“I think everybody goes to Congress, whether you’re a liberal or a conservative, and you sincerely want to pass legislation that you believe would benefit your district,” Comer noted.
“I hope we can get along better, but I’m not real optimistic about it,” he said.
