Camilla was photographed arriving at Ascot Racecourse looking radiant in a very elegant outfit. The Queen Consort chose one of her favourite shades, Edinburgh green, to attend the equestrian event. This was an amusing day for Camilla, who met young people from the Ebony Horse Club in Brixton, a multi-ethnic neighbourhood in south London.

Camilla was all smiles as she arrived at the event and met participants and members of the club, of which she has been president since 2009.

The Queen Consort opted for a very flattering forest green coat dress, dark brown boots and a matching hat. For accessories, she donned a light brown leather handbag and a pair of black gloves.

The brown fluffy hat is the same one she chose to attend Ascot last year. Back then, she combined the statement accessory with wide and fluffy brim with a tweed coat dress.

Today, the royal also seemed to be wearing a white ruffled blouse underneath and for jewellery, she sported a pair of diamond and pearl drop earrings and her equestrian diamond, ruby, and sapphire brooch.

Camilla has worn the brooch in the shape of a horseshoe before but the origin of the piece is still unknown. The diamond-set letters on the brooch spell out the name “Minoru”.

Minoru was one of King Edward VII’s most successful thoroughbred racehorses and his win at Epsom win made him the first reigning monarch to win the Derby.

Royal watchers took to social media to praise Camilla’s style and choice of jewellery with @miacolucci.t saying: “She looks awesome in green! I’m not a fan of the hat but that coat is super cute.”

Royal fan account @walesfamilyjourney commented the brooch “is similar to the one Prince Charlotte wore during the funeral”. Another one, @ale_campos_gua added: “She must love horses!”

Others commented she looked “amazing” and “divine” while other social media users said she displayed a “beautiful” smile. “So lovely to see her out and about,” said another one.

Princess Charlotte wore a horseshoe brooch to Queen Elizabeth’s state funeral in September and it is believed this was a sweet nod to her great-grandmother who had a passion for horses.

The piece of jewellery has been in the Royal Family for generations and Queen Elizabeth’s mother wore that same horseshoe brooch in 1929.

Queen Elizabeth was known to have a passion for all things equestrian and she had her first riding lesson at age three. At age 90 she was often spotted on horseback and for her 96th birthday portrait, the late Queen was pictured with two of her beloved ponies.

It is believed Princess Charlotte shares that love for horses as Natasha Baker, a decorated Paralympic Equestrian, said after speaking with Kate: “I asked her how the children were, and she said Charlotte is really enjoying her riding which is great to hear.

“She emphasized that Charlotte has this passion for horses and although she doesn’t echo it, she’ll do her best to champion and encourage it.”

Queen Camilla is not known to share the same hobby, but instead, she wears her special brooch to all equestrian events as a nod to Queen Elizabeth.

The November Racing Weekend at Ascot is one of two high-quality weekends of jumps racing and members of the Royal Family normally attend the event to enjoy the races.

The Ascot website explained: “This meeting provides the perfect opportunity to see some of the stars of the future as a collection of promising novice hurdlers and chasers traditionally line up on the opening day of the weekend.

“The likes of Chantry House, Angels Breath, Many Clouds and Simonsig have featured on this card while a series of competitive, exciting handicaps over both disciplines ensure it is always an enjoyable day of Jumps racing.”
