John Henry’s ownership group is reportedly putting one of the biggest soccer clubs in the world on the market.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Fenway Sports Group is putting Liverpool F.C. of the English Premier League up for sale and has “a full sale presentation” ready for those looking to purchase the team.

Fenway Sports Group is led by Henry and also owns the Boston Red Sox, along with a number of other properties including NESN, the Pittsburgh Penguins, RFK Racing and Fenway Park itself.

Henry is a co-founder of FSG along with Tom Werner and has been the chairman of the Red Sox since 2001. The group has also owned Liverpool since 2010, with the club winning the Premier League, the FA Cup and Champions League during that time.

Liverpool is one of the most prominent franchises in English soccer, being one of the six EPL clubs that had initially been set to join the European Super League in 2021 before withdrawing.

Here’s the full statement on the news from Fenway Sports Group, via Ornstein, regarding the news:

“There have been a number of recent changes of ownership and rumors of changes in ownership at EPL clubs and inevitably we are asked regularly about Fenway Sports Group’s ownership in Liverpool.

“FSG has frequently received expressions of interest from third parties seeking to become shareholders in Liverpool. FSG has said before that under the right terms and conditions we would consider new shareholders if it was in the best interests of Liverpool as a club.

“FSG remains fully committed to the success of Liverpool, both on and off the pitch.”

Liverpool is in the midst of a middling run in the EPL this season. The club currently sits at 5-4-4, good for eighth on the Premier League table.
