Massive fail from Alex Kerfoot on Sunday night.

Kerfoot #Kerfoot

Something tells me that this might land Alex Kerfoot in Sheldon Keefe’s doghouse.

On Sunday night the Leafs were taking on the Anaheim Ducks and came into that game desperately needing a win. Not only had the Leafs rattled off three straight losses prior to the Ducks game, but the Ducks currently boast one of the worst records in the league and are a team a legitimate contender should be capable of putting away.

The Leafs got a terrific scoring chance earlier on in the first period but unfortunately it would quickly evaporate and turn into even more frustration. That’s because the aforementioned Kerfoot made the decision to celebrate early on what he thought was already a goal, resulting in him watching the puck trickle by him as he stood there with his hands in the air.

Had Kerfoot simply kept his stick on the ice it seems very likely that he would have been able to tap that puck into the wide open net in front of him, but instead it turned into one of the biggest fails we’ve had so far in the 2022-23 National Hockey League regular season.

To make matters worse, the Ducks would score only a few moments later resulting in a dramatic swing of momentum early on in the game.

Here’s the angle we saw live:
