Max Verstappen’s historic 14th GP win came with Lewis Hamilton and ‘Checo’ Perez on the podium

In a colorful and joyful Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City, the Formula 1’s 2022 Mexico Grand Prix took place this Sunday and a record setting crowd saw Dutch Max Verstappen take the checkered flag and set a new single season Grand Prix wins record when he took his 14th victory of the year.

We must note that nowadays, more races are held each F1 season, compared to prior decades.

Verstappen was joined in the podium by 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton who took second place and by hometown hero and crowd favorite Sergio Perez, as the Mexican driver managed to take over George Russell at the beggining of the race and secured a place in the podium with a sensational manage of his tires.

The Mexico GP had a record setting attendance

The 2022 edition of the Mexico GP saw the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez host almost 400,000 fans, with Formula 1 announcing that 395,902 set a new record for the race.

This was the ninth consecutive win for Red Bull, who last weekend secured the Constructors championship, the fifth in their history in Formula 1.

Max Verstappen has now scored the most points in a season

While Max Verstappen managed to secure his 14th win of the season from start to finish, he also ended up the day with the most points scored ever in a Formula 1 season.

Max Verstappen’s Mexico GP win meant he surpassed GermansMichael Schumacer and Sebastian Vettel’s 13 win seasons.
