New Zealand batter Glenn Phillips had a memorable day during the league stage fixture against Sri Lanka as the right-handed batsman hit the 2nd century of his T20I career. The onus fell on Phillips to do the job after the fall of early wickets. Coming in to bat at number 4, Phillips hit 104 off 64 and struck at 162.50 to take his team to a total of 167.
While Phillips’ batting hogged much limelight, there was another thing that garnered much attention. Amid the ongoing debate surrounding the run-out at non-striker’s end, Phillips gave other batsmen a lesson on how to gain momentum without leaving the crease early.
In the viral pics, Phillips can be seen gaining momentum while sitting in a sprinter’s position and leaving the crease as soon as the ball is delivered. So Phillips is ready to run as soon as a ball is delivered. Since his foot is inside the crease till the ball is delivered, Phillips doesn’t take any unfair advantage.

Phillips continued with his hitting after Mitchell’s dismissal and finished at 104 off 64. Mitchell was the only other NZ batter who could breach the 20-run mark.
Sri Lanka have made a forgettable start in the chase and have lost 4 wickets early. They are yet to breach the 50-run mark.
