In their second match of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, Pakistan are up against Zimbabwe in Match Number 24 at Perth Stadium. Pakistan are looking to secure their first win of this year’s tournament after they suffered a heart-breaking defeat against India in their opening match on Sunday (October 23). For the second straight time on Thursday, Babar Azam lost the toss, but this time Pakistan was asked to field first.

Zimbabwe skipper Craig Ervine’s decision to bat first in Perth turned out to be the right one in the first five overs of the match, when they managed to get off to a flying start and post 42 runs on the board. But after that, Pakistan bounced back and kept taking wickets at regular intervals to keep the opposition under control.

Zimbabwe could only manage to post 130 runs on the board for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. They would have made a big one, but four dismissals in a span of six balls derailed the ship for them in the middle overs. It all started when Shadab Khan bowled out Sean Williams for 31 runs in the penultimate ball of the 14th over. Sean finished as the top-scorer for Zimbabwe on Thursday. And then, on the last ball, Shadab sent wicketkeeper-batter Regis Chakabva packing for a golden duck. He was caught by skipper Babar Azam at the slip, who completed a stunning catch.

It was an outstanding effort on the field by the 28-year-old, who was himself in shock after completing the catch, and his reaction went viral on the internet.

After Shadab’s two consecutive wickets, Mohammad Wasim Jr, who was included in the side in place of struggling Asif Ali, also repeated the trick and sent two Zimbabwe batters back to the pavilion on consecutive deliveries.

After this match, Pakistan will face the Netherlands in their third match of the T20 World Cup 2022 on Sunday (October 30) at the same venue.
