The Phoenix Suns are hosting the Dallas Mavericks for each team’s first game of the regular season.
For the game, both teams have announced their starting lineup as relayed by Underdog NBA.
Underdog NBA: “Lineup alert: Suns will start Paul, Booker, Bridges, Johnson, Ayton on Wednesday.”
Underdog NBA: “Lineup alert: Mavs will start Doncic, Dinwiddie, Bullock, Finney-Smith, McGee on Wednesday.”
This is a rematch from last season’s second round NBA Playoffs matchup that ended with the Mavs winning a Game 7 on the road in Arizona.
Therefore, the Suns have a chance to get a quick revenge to start their season.
The Suns had the best record in the NBA, so they were the first seed in the Western Conference.
Yet, the Mavs pulled off the upset to make the Western Conference Finals.
Prior to 2020-21, the Suns had missed the NBA Playoffs for ten straight seasons, but after trading for Chris Paul in the summer of 2020 they made the NBA Finals the following season.
Since the addition of Paul, they have been one of the premier teams in the NBA.
As for the Mavs, they are led by superstar Luka Doncic, and have Basketball Hall of Famer Jason Kidd as their head coach.
They were the fourth seed in the Western Conference, but making it that far in the postseason was still a big shock.
Due to that success, they will have much bigger expectations this season.
