The former Wolves attacker has been a surprise package for the Reds following his move in 2020, performing above expectations prior to his move to Anfield.

In 93 appearances, Jota has found the back of the net 34 times. He described the news as one of his dreams ‘collapsing’ as Fernando Santos’ side gear up for their World Cup campaign which kicks off on November 24, they face Ghana, Uruguay and South Korea in Group H.

The blow comes after a run of two impressive showings from the attacker. He notched a hat-trick of assists in the rout against Rangers before he had to do work at both ends of the pitch during the win over Pep Guardiola’s side.
