GoMVB announces collaboration with Karlos Dansby…the game INSIDE the game

Dansby #Dansby

As far back as former 14-year National Football League linebacker Karlos Dansby can remember, he has always given back to his community.

Dansby also knows how fortunate he was to be “seen” as a high school football (plus basketball and track), student-athlete at Woodlawn in Birmingham, Alabama – at a time (the last 1990s) when there was no social media, no smartphones with cameras, and the World Wide Web was still growing.

He wants to make sure that as many young players as possible, get that chance to attend college, play sports and possibly follow in his footsteps into the professional ranks.

Dansby has recently teamed up with New Jersey-based company GoMVB Sports, a fully developed platform designed to help student-athletes get the sort of exposure that gets the attention of college coaches. This exposure goes far beyond that which they might get from only playing on high school, travel, or club teams. Dansby’s focus will be to make sure kids who might not be able to get those services can now do so.

“What I am trying to do with this program is to get these kids the exposure that they deserve,” Dansby said. “They sacrifice a lot from an early age. Some kids start playing sports at four, five, or six years old. But because of particular geographic or economic limitations within certain school districts, these athletes simply don’t get an opportunity to get that look or get viewed by some colleges that are out there. They miss out on opportunities to further their education, as well as their aspirations of playing the sport they love in college.

Clearly, Dansby was a very good football player to go to Auburn University and then get drafted in the second round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. But he was also the Alabama 6A basketball tournament MVP in 2000, leading Woodlawn to the state title. On both teams, Dansby acknowledged there were players that would have greatly benefitted from the exposure his new partnership with GoMVB Sports would bring.

“There were so many kids more talented than I was and played on the same team as me,” Dansby said. “And they just didn’t get that opportunity to be seen. It was an era and a time when we didn’t have the access the youth of today have. Where I went to school in Birmingham, Alabama, it was just different: you missed out on a lot of opportunities because the college recruiters just weren’t there.

“We had all the people pushing the players – the coaches, the families, the communities – but they just didn’t get an opportunity to be seen. It just wasn’t a big thing for the coaches to come around and see the inner-city schools here in Birmingham.”

GoMVB Sports Co-Founder Frank Barone is very happy to have a collaboration partner like Dansby – it provides for greater nationwide reach and an opportunity to really touch the lives of talented athletes who need the additional exposure and gain the access to higher learning institutions.

“The objective is to help underserved communities where great athletes may not have the channels and resources to display their commitment to their sport and the skills set they’ve developed as a result, so that college coaches and recruiters take notice,” Barone said. “Many high school athletes miss their opportunity to use the sport that they play to get into a college or university that they may not have been able to get into without that sport. Additionally, from D3 to D1, families can save tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars on college education costs through academic grants and athletic scholarships.

“Today, access to a better college education through sports can have a significant impact on the economic circumstances of so many families. Not just through post-college career opportunities, but also through potential NIL revenue generation while they’re in school right now.”

Dansby is ready to get started and has already thought about the difference he can make for student-athletes around the country that need his help.

“Man, I think it will be legendary,” Dansby said. “This is the GAME INSIDE THE GAME. This is the game inside the game that you have to be able to play. A lot of kids don’t get a chance to play in this space, in this area. It is a blessing for me to be able to play in this space and to give kids an opportunity to get out of certain situations that molded them, so they can spread their wings and fly toward their dreams and aspirations.

“So this is a beautiful opportunity, and I want to take full advantage of this opportunity and put my name on something like this that can be revolutionary.”
