Offensive tackle Billy Turner (knee) cracked the active roster for the first time this season Thursday night but did not start.
Cam Fleming started at right tackle, just as he has so far this season in Turner’s absence. Turner signed with the Broncos as a free agent this offseason but has not yet played this year as he rehabilitates from knee surgery.
Rookie defensive lineman Eyioma Uwazurike also made the game-day roster for the first time this season after being a healthy scratch for the first four games. Wide receiver/special teams stalwart Tyrie Cleveland returned after missing time with a hamstring issue.
Uwazurike made his career debut in the first quarter.
The full inactive list: Running back Latavius Murray, who just arrived in Denver on Tuesday, rookie wide receiver P.J. Locke, safety P.J. Locke (concussion), outside linebacker Aaron Patrick (concussion), OLB Jonathon Cooper (hamstring) and offensive lineman Quinn Meinerz (hamstring).
Defensive changes. Without outside linebacker Randy Gregory, Denver shuffled its defensive starting group and early rotation. The Broncos started with four defensive linemen instead of three, adding Mike Purcell alongside Dre’Mont Jones, D.J. Jones and DeShawn Williams.
Outside linebacker Baron Browning entered on the second snap of the game opposite Bradley Chubb and, on the Colts’ first third down of the night, rookie Nik Bonitto got into the game as well.
Roster moves. Denver signed outside linebacker Jonathan Kongbo from its practice squad to the active roster and elevated running back Devine Ozigbo and safety Anthony Harris from the practice squad ahead of Thursday night’s game.
Kongbo provided depth at outside linebacker in the wake of the Broncos losing Gregory (knee) for at least four weeks to the short-term injured reserve list. In addition to Gregory, Jonathon Cooper (hamstring) and Aaron Patrick (concussion) were also out Thursday. Ozigbo and Harris can be returned to the practice squad after the game.
Denver lost running back Javonte Williams for the season to a knee injury and signed Latavius Murray to its 53-man roster off of New Orleans’ practice squad. Murray, though, only arrived in town on Tuesday and was not active against the Colts. He’ll likely debut Oct. 17 against the Chargers.
Harris has played in 95 games, including 61 starts. Ozigbo entered Thursday with 21 games of NFL experience.
