The New York Yankees will look to continue their recent domination over the Texas Rangers on Tuesday when they meet in the first game of a doubleheader at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The Yankees (98-61) have won eight of the past nine meetings against the Rangers (66-93), including two of three in 2022. New York has won 18 of the past 26 meetings with Texas. The Rangers have lost nine of 10, including six in a row. Aaron Judge needs one more home run to surpass the team and American League record of 61 home runs, which is held by Roger Maris.

Tuesday’s first game is slated to begin at 2:05 p.m. ET.  New York is the slight -115 favorite (risk $115 to win $100) on the money line in the latest Yankees vs. Rangers odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over/under for total runs scored is 7. Before making any Rangers vs. Yankees picks, be sure to see the MLB predictions and betting advice from SportsLine’s proven computer model.

Why you should back the Yankees

New York, which will start righty Jameson Taillon (14-5, 3.83 ERA), has been on a tear, winning three of its last four series and seven of their last nine. Shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa, a former Ranger, is hitting .262 with four homers, 48 RBI and 66 runs scored. He has hits in seven of his last nine games. Kiner-Falefa has recorded four homers and 37 RBI against right-handed pitching, and has been a nuisance on the base paths with 20 stolen bases in 23 attempts vs. righties.

Several New York regulars will get the day off as the Yankees look ahead to the 2022 MLB playoffs, where they’ve locked in a bye and the No. 2 seed. But Judge remains in the lineup and he’ll bat first as the designated hitter as he continues to pursue history. Judge hit home run No. 61 last Wednesday at Toronto, and while he’s only recorded a couple hits since that point, he’s been getting on base regularly as teams have been pitching around him in some circumstances.

Why you should back the Rangers

With nothing left to play for, Texas will be looking to finish the season on a high note. Expected to take the hill for the Rangers will be right-hander Jon Gray (7-7, 3.93 ERA). Gray is looking for his first win since blanking the Miami Marlins 8-0 on July 21. He gave up a season-high six earned runs in his last start on Thursday in a 10-9 loss at Seattle. Prior to that game, he had not allowed more than three runs over his past four appearances, including zero in a no-decision against the Cleveland Guardians on Sept. 23.

Helping power the Texas offense is first baseman Nathaniel Lowe, who is batting .300 in 154 games played this season. He has 27 homers, 76 RBIs and 73 runs scored. He has hit safely in six of his past eight games. Coming into the series, Lowe had two doubles and two homers with four RBIs in 16 games against New York.
