They’re still one of the NFL’s major superpowers, but the Chiefs are playing this season without the all-world speedster Tyreek Hill. A familiar face from Kansas City’s run through the AFC in recent years, the perennial All-Pro Hill was traded to the Dolphins in the offseason.

Even though Hill’s Dolphins are currently 1-0, he appeared to have a keen eye on the Chiefs’ big matchup with the Chargers on Thursday Night Football. Especially on his long-time, big-armed collaborator Patrick Mahomes, who has also been adjusting to life without his former big-play security blanket.

Though, Mahomes appeared to be OK without Hill when he launched a perfect deep 41-yard bomb to Justin Watson for a mid-third quarter score:

Classic Mahomes. What else is new? Hill couldn’t hold back an emotional response after he saw the play himself:

Oof. You hate seeing a dynamic duo like Mahomes-Hill separated because of the fireworks they can create together. So, Hill’s emotions are understandable. Sometimes you just get caught in nostalgia, you know?

That said, they’re both two of the best players in pro football. They’ll probably be just fine in the long run, even when apart.

NFL fans had lots of jokes about Hill getting caught up in Chiefs nostalgia
