Parramatta fans demand the club SACK Brad Arthur after embarrassing defeat by South Sydney

Parra #Parra

Parramatta fans have lashed out at Brad Arthur following the club’s pitiful performance against South Sydney, with growing calls for the coach to be dismissed from his post.

The Rabbitohs completely out-muscled Parramatta’s big pack to record a whopping 26-0 victory over Arthur’s side, with Latrell Mitchell running riot on a dismal night at Commbank Stadium.

The Eels are desperate to win their first premiership since 1986 and Arthur’s side were tipped to be among the frontrunners this year, but Friday’s defeat sees them drop to sixth and they’re showing little sign of boasting the defensive solidity to mount a challenge.

And furious Parra fans have voiced their frustrations with the club’s trajectory, taking to Twitter to call for Arthur’s sacking.

‘Sack Brad Arthur,’ one fan posted. ‘Can’t get his team to show up when it counts that’s why he’s never been past the 2nd week this was pathetic just garbage.’

‘In the club’s history BA has been coach for more than 10 per cent of the time,’ another said. ‘That’s insane to think he’s still there and never made a prelim.

‘Are we saying that’s acceptable as a club? What are we hanging on to? A bloke that won’t get the side a comp?’

‘Are you serious?’ a third added. ‘We were crap for about 75 minutes! We didn’t even deserve 0. The first half was an absolute disgrace.

‘We were soft, lazy and bland. Our kicking game was predictable and all but 1 put them under no pressure. Our bench rotation made no sense at all.’

A fourth fan pointed to Arthur’s insistence on playing his son, Jakob, a controversial decision among many supporters.

‘Make sure to sign Arthur and his son to 10 year extensions and don’t forget to hire more Dragons reject coaches,’ they said.

Another fan set out what Arthur needs to deliver in order to keep his job for the new season.

‘He needs a preliminary final at the least to have any chance coaching in 2023. But unfortunately for him, that’s starting to look very unlikely. Our top four chance has been blown away tonight.’

Arthur admitted that his team were ‘bashed up’ on a night to forget.

‘Right from the start, I thought physically we were well off the pace through the middle,’ Arthur said.

‘We got bashed up, we weren’t physical.

‘There has to be a real want and desire to put your body on the line and it was obvious that we didn’t have it.’

Parra have a good chance to bounce back next week when they take on the Bulldogs, who occupy 12th place on the ladder.
