Theresa May and Truss have Commons in stitches at Labour jibe – ‘All from north London!’

north London #northLondon

Theresa May, Britain’s second female Prime Minister after Margaret Thatcher, took a pointed dig at the Labour Party, asking the new Conservative leader Liz Truss why it is the Conservative Party is the only party to have ever had female Prime Ministers. After congratulating her on her new appointment as Prime Minister, Ms May went on the offensive and asked: “Can I ask my right honourable friend, why does she think it is that all three female Prime Ministers have been conservative?” Tory MPs roared after Theresa May’s question, humiliating the Labour Party for never having a single one female leader.

Liz Truss was in stitches after hearing Theresa May’s scathing attack on the Labour Party and delivered another brutal swipe at Labour.

She said: “Well, I thank my right honourable friend for her fantastic question.

“I look forward to calling on her advice from her time in office as I start my work as Prime Minister.

“It is quite extraordinary, isn’t it, there doesn’t seem to be the ability in the Labour Party to find a female leader or indeed, a leader who doesn’t come from North London,” Liz Truss slashed, as she herself lives south of the river.

Tory MPs again exploded in laughter, further humiliating the Labour Party.

Liz Truss faced Sir Keir Starmer for the first time as Prime Minister during PMQs.

The new PM spoke on the energy crisis, windfall taxes and her plan for the future, but how do you think she fared?

“I don’t know what it is!” Prime Minister Truss exclaimed, under her party’s acclaim.

“I don’t know what the issue is,” she added, as Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer laughed nervously.

Theresa May’s and Liz Truss’ attacks come as the Conservative Party has elected its third female Prime Minister in less than 50 years.

By contrast, the Labour Party has never had a female Prime Minister.
