Police: Woman, dog killed after being hit by vehicle in Boone County

BOONE COUNTY — A woman was killed Thursday evening when she was struck by a vehicle while walking her dog in rural Caledonia, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

The preliminary investigation indicates the woman was hit by a vehicle traveling east on the 700 block of Kelly Road at about 6:45 p.m.

The pedestrian, later identified as 68-year-old Sandra Berg, of Caledonia, was pronounced dead at the scene. Berg’s dog was also killed, police said.

The driver of the vehicle was not hurt, according to police. No charges have been filed against the driver at this time.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
