Cardiff City noon transfer headlines as Callum Robinson fee revealed and West Brom’s Cedric Kipre set to stay put despite injury crisis

Here are the latest Cardiff City transfer headlines at midday on the final day of the window.

Robinson fee revealed

Cardiff City have agreed a permanent deal for West Bromwich Albion striker Callum Robinson.

After much speculation, WalesOnline understands the forward is poised to become City’s 17th signing of a hugely busy summer, in what is a welcome development in the capital.

According to the BBC, Cardiff are set to pay a fee in the region of £1.5m for the forward, in a move that represents a huge breakthrough for boss Steve Morison, who’s made no secret of his desire to bring another striker on board during this window.

Despite already bringing in Kion Etete from Tottenham, Cardiff have largely struggled in the final third so far this season, with neither Etete or Max Watters finding the net so far this term.

Confirming the move, West Brom boss Steve Bruce said: “It looks as if he’s on his way, Cardiff I think is the one that’s agreed the fee.

“We always knew we had to balance the books, I wish him the best of luck if that happens. It hasn’t gone so well of late for Robbo these past few weeks, but I wish him the best of luck – he’s a really smashing lad and a great pro.”

Cardiff make Walcott enquiry

Cardiff City had also shown an initial interest in Southampton forward Theo Walcott.

The 33-year-old could well be on the move on deadline day, and the Bluebirds were tipped to make a move, although a number of other suitors were also expected to take a look at the former Arsenal man.

WalesOnline understands that while Cardiff made an initial enquiry, the prospect of a move to the capital was quickly deemed unlikely, although given he’s yet to earn a single minute of senior football this season, an exit from St Mary’s could still be on the cards.

Cardiff are clearly on the hunt for a new striker before deadline day is out, with their shortcomings in the final third exposed once again during the 2-1 defeat at home to Luton Town.

Kipre recall off the table

West Bromwich Albion will not recall Cardiff City loanee Cedric Kipre.

That’s according to our colleagues at BirminghamLive, who claim the Baggies have taken the prospect of a recall ‘off the table until at least January’.

Kipre has already established himself as a popular figure in the capital on the back of several solid performances for the Bluebirds, having arrived on loan from The Hawthorns earlier in the summer.

West Brom are currently facing something of an injury crisis at centre-back heading into the final few hours of the transfer window, with boss Bruce left with just two fit options as he awaits news on Semi Ajay’s knee injury.

Albion are reportedly preparing themselves for the worst news, but taking Kipre back isn’t an option at this stage.
