Live updates from Brian Kelly’s first game week press conference at LSU football
GAME WEEK #GAMEWEEK
BATON ROUGE – Game week is finally here.
On Sunday, LSU football will kick off the 2022 season against Florida State in New Orleans. It will be the official start of the Brian Kelly era after the former Notre Dame coach left South Bend for Baton Rouge this past winter.
It’s been a difficult last two seasons for LSU. After winning the national championship in 2019, the Tigers have posted a middling 11-12 record and finished last season with an emphatic loss to Kansas State in the Texas Bowl. The roster was also in shambles, as LSU played in the bowl loss with less than 40 scholarship players.
But since Kelly has taken over the program, LSU has started to turn the program around. The Tigers added 16 players from the transfer portal while bringing in the No. 12 recruiting class in the nation during the Class of 2022 cycle, according to 247Sports Composite. They also changed all but one member of the coaching staff from last season.
Whether any of these developments will dramatically shift LSU’s fortunes immediately has yet to be determined. But Monday marks the beginning of discovering that answer.
