Newcastle United are on the verge of signing Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak for a club-record fee, and Fabrizio Romano has the latest update on the transfer.

The Magpies have long been linked with a move to sign the talented Swede, but many people weren’t convinced that a deal would go through in this window. However, Eddie Howe and co seem to have pulled this off.

Reports revealed yesterday that Real Sociedad accepted a club-record £59 million bid from Newcastle United for Isak.

The Swedish centre-forward has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a long time now. He was reportedly one of Arsenal’s top targets in the last few windows, but that move never materialised.

However, he’s now finally set to secure his big transfer to England, and Romano has revealed that he has landed in the UK now to complete his move.

In a tweet at 01:09 am last night, Romano claimed: “Alexander Isak update. Understand Swedish striker is already in England, landed on Wednesday night to complete €70 million (£59m) move to Newcastle.”

It looks like it’s just a matter of time before it’s announced.

TBR View:

Isak really is a sensational signing for Newcastle.

The 22-year-old Sweden international is rated extremely highly in the game. He has been looked at by a number of top clubs across Europe, but it looks like Newcastle are the ones who’ll win the race for his signature.

Isak is good in the air, brilliant with his back to goal and is a really powerful player. His finishing is impressive as well, and although there is a lot he can still improve on, Newcastle fans should be really excited about seeing him in the famous black and white.

If things go to plan, Isak should be announced as a new Newcastle United player before their game against Wolves on Sunday.
