‘In the next 24 hours’: Fabrizio Romano has some transfer news for Arsenal fans

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe as he closes in on a loan move away from the Emirates.

The 27-year-old is surplus to Mikel Arteta’s requirements and could be next to leave the Emirates Stadium.

Pepe hasn’t played a single minute of Premier League action this term and wasn’t even in the squad at Bournemouth.

Arsenal have reportedly been in talks with Nice over the Ivory Coast international in recent days.

Earlier today, Romano took to Twitter to claim that Arsenal and Nice have completed a verbal agreement this afternoon.

He added that the documents for the move – a simple loan with no option to buy – will be prepared soon.

Later on, Romano provided a further update, claiming Pepe has reduced his salary in order to secure the move.

The Ligue 1 side will reportedly cover the main part of his wages, with the documents now ready with Arsenal.

Romano then finished by saying Pepe’s medical will take place in the next 24 hours.

Despite being praised by Mikel Arteta and lauded as a ‘phenomenal‘ player, it’s fair to say Pepe hasn’t hit the heights expected since arriving at Arsenal.

He remains the Gunners’ record signing.

However, Arsenal appear to have come to terms with the fact they probably won’t be seeing a significant return on their investment.

But now, Pepe appears to be closing in towards a loan move from Arsenal.

This would put him in the shop window and potentially get his value back up.
