Phil Foden decides against passing to Erling Haaland for simple tap-in yet again

Foden #Foden

Phil Foden has frustrated plenty of fans after deciding against passing to Erling Haaland for the second consecutive game.

But they had a number of other great opportunities to extend their lead, one falling to Foden.

Gundogan played the England winger in down the left and he saw his effort saved by the feet of compatriot Nick Pope.

However, plenty of fans noticed that Haaland, City’s big summer acquisition from Borussia Dortmund, was free for a tap-in.

The exact same situation happened in the 4-0 thrashing of Bournemouth, with Haaland again looking disillusioned with his teammate. Pep Guardiola was also less than pleased on the touchline.

The Paraguayan, having spurned a glorious opportunity, diverted the ball in with his thigh after a cross from Allan Saint-Maximin.

Almiron was initially flagged offside but the goal was given following the intervention of VAR, which showed he had been kept on by Kyle Walker.

Newcastle then found another gear completely and took the lead courtesy of Callum Wilson, who finished after another sublime pick-out from Saint-Maximin.
