Tottenham expert issues emphatic Ivan Perisic claim as expected starting XI revealed

Ivan Perisic will make his full Tottenham debut in Sunday’s (14 August) game against Chelsea.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Tottenham travel to Stamford Bridge looking to make it two wins from two in the 2022-23 Premier League after last weekend’s victory over Southampton.

None of Spurs’ summer signings started that game though Perisic, Yves Bissouma and Clement Lenglet came off the bench in the second half.

Wenham claims Perisic will be the only change and admits it will be harsh to drop Ryan Sessegnon after his goal in the win over the Saints.

“I would stick with the same back three for Chelsea,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“So that would be Romero, Davies and Sanchez. I would make one change to the defence and I know it would be harsh.

“I know Sessegnon played well and scored against Southampton but I would bring in Perisic for the Chelsea game.

“He has played in big arenas, he understands these kinds of games. He will know important it is to go to Chelsea and not lose.

“Apart from that, I would keep it the same. I think Royal has done well and his confidence must be quite high.

“I’d also keep Hojbjerg in there with the possibility of Yves Bissouma coming on.

“He will go alongside Bentancur and then we have the usual attack of Kane, Son and Kulusevski.”
