Temps drop back into 90s Monday under mostly sunny Portland skies; high 92
Good Monday #GoodMonday
Portland won’t see a repeat of Sunday’s high of 100 at all this week, and for many, that’s welcome news.
Monday is likely to be the warmest day of the work week with temperatures near 92 degrees as measured at the Portland International Airport. Temps in the low-to-mid 90s are possible in other metro locations and near 100 in the upper Hood River Valley, according to the National Weather Service.
The day may start with some marine clouds but should clear to mostly sunny before lunchtime. Those clouds, and the coast’s cool and cloudy weather, will help bring a cooling and dampening trend through most of the week.
There is a slight chance of thunderstorms over the Lane and Linn county Cascade mountains later in the day. Overnight, those storms should move northward and keep up a chance of more widespread showers across the mountains.
Precipitation may even drop down into the valleys overnight. The weather service says Portland will see a 20% chance of morning showers Tuesday. Skies will be mostly cloudy through the morning, then clear to sunny later in the afternoon. The high temp will reach near 88 degrees.
A low pressure system off the Oregon Coast could bring in more widespread showers overnight and into early Wednesday. This will make midweek the coolest part of the next five days. Forecasters expect mostly cloudy skies early in the day, then sun breaks. The high will be near 81, a few degrees below average.
Extended forecasts are showing a continuation of onshore flow through Thursday and Friday, and a good chance of seasonably warm and dry conditions as the weekend approaches.
