WWE SmackDown results: Live recap, grades as gauntlet match crowns No. 1 contender for Liv Morgan’s title

No. 1 contenders will be crowned and addressed on WWE SmackDown on Friday night. Seven superstars will compete in a gauntlet match to determine the next challenge for Liv Morgan’s SmackDown women’s championship. Undisputed WWE universal champion Roman Reigns, fresh off a title defense against Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, will speak about new contender Drew McIntyre.

SmackDown touches down at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina, on Friday night. Raquel Rodriguez, Aliyah, Shotzi, Xia, Shayna Baszler, Natalya and Sonya Deville will battle determine Morgan’s next challenge. Plus, Shinsuke Nakamura will earn a shot at Gunther’s intercontinental championship if he can defeat Gunther’s cohort, Kaiser Ludwig. 

Reigns returns to SmackDown after defeating Lesnar in a Last Man Standing match. McIntyre earned the right to challenge Reigns at Clash at the Castle after defeating Sheamus in a well-received Irish Donnybrook match.
