Liverpool have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Bayern Munich star Thiago Alcantara.

Bild claim Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is a huge admirer of the 29-year-old midfielder, who has won seven consecutive Bundesliga titles at the Allianz Arena since arriving in Munich in July 2013.

The German media outlet further claim that the former Barcelona man is seriously considering his options after no breakthrough regarding a new contract thus far, despite two months of negotiations.

Thiago’s current deal expires in the summer of 2021, though it’s still unlikely the Bavarian giants would let one of their star players leave on the cheap – though Thiago himself is said to be keen on a switch to Merseyside.

Speaking back in February 2019, Klopp lavished praise on the Spanish ace after Bayern held Liverpool to a goalless draw in a Champions League clash at Anfield.

“I’ve probably never seen them defend like that,’ the German said.

“Respect to them as they made it difficult for us, although we had good situations where we missed the last touch.

“Thiago is a world-class footballer. He played that deep-lying playmaker role very well. Alongside [Javi] Martinez, they were very good.”
