This may be the real reason Christian Eriksen chose Man United after journalist’s reveal – pundit

Frank McAvennie has claimed Christian Eriksen is more likely to get game time at Man United than at Tottenham.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-West Ham striker said Eriksen, 30, will enjoy the pressure at a club like United.

Speaking on The Athletic’s YouTube channel (21 July) , journalist David Ornstein reported that Spurs had made contact with the Denmark international.

The Lilywhites decided against stepping up their pursuit of the midfielder.

On 15 July, United confirmed the signing of Eriksen on a three-year deal.

He joined on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract at Brentford.

McAvennie suggested there could be another reason Eriksen chose United over a return to Spurs.

“I think Man United are a better fit for Eriksen than Tottenham,” he told Football Insider.

“I think he’s got a chance of going there and doing something and hopefully everything is ok and his body’s alright. Then he can go there and he’ll look forward to the pressure of Man United.

“You just look at what he did with Brentford last season.

“It will have been a sentimental reason Tottenham were looking at him, I don’t think Conte will have wanted him. He would have taken Eriksen of course he would but I think he’s got more chance of playing at Man United.“

Eriksen made 11 appearances for the Bees in the Premier League last season, scoring once and providing four assists.
