Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson blazes to gold in the women’s 200-meters at the World Athletics Championships

Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson dominated a star-studded field to win the gold medal in the women’s 200 meters at the World Athletics Championships at Hayward Field on Thursday night.

Jackson finished in a time of 21.45 seconds, a world championships record and the second-fastest time ever in the event. Jackson’s time is second only to Florence Griffith-Joyner’s world record time of 21.34 seconds she established at the 1988 Summer Olympics.

Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, hoping to double after winning the 100 meters, finished second in a time of 21.81 seconds. England’s Dina Asher-Smith was third at 22.02.

American Abby Steiner finished fifth in a time of 22.26 and Tamara Clark crossed sixth at 22.32.
