Lush staff stand up to Britain First over anti-racism sign in video confrontation

Staff at a popular cosmetic shop have become online icons after they stood up to “bullying” from far-right campaigners.

Lush in Swindon was targeted by members of Britain First for displaying an anti-discrimination message in its window.

The poster read: “Please don’t enter with symptoms of Covid-19, racism, homophobia or transphobia!”

Video footage shared on social media showed rosette-wearing pamphleteers attempting to goad workers over the sign.

“How about scabies?” one Britain First member asked, laughing at the list.

Another could be heard asking a member of staff: “What about… I support the IRA, I hate my own people and my own country, I absolutely hate them, and I want Britain to be abolished – am I allowed in?”

Refusing to be baited, the woman shook her head and shrugged her shoulders with exasperation.

“I hate Britain, I can’t wait for my country to be completely overrun with multiculturalism and mass immigration… Am I allowed in your shop?” he asked again.

“What about white people? I absolutely hate white people,” he continued. “I think they’re the source of all the world’s problems – like a sort of Black Lives Matter position… Am I allowed in then?”

After branding the Lush store “Swindon’s weirdest shop”, the group then confronted a bystander who told them that, in fact, they were the weird ones.

“So you support mass immigration and foreign terrorist groups?” he asked her. “You support putting the British people to the back of every queue imaginable?”

“Oh yes, I support it all,” she sighed, raising her eyebrows.

The clip was shared on Twitter on Monday night and within 15 hours had been viewed 90,000 times.

Posting the video, one user wrote: “Total respect to the staff at Lush, Swindon.

“Thank you for standing in silence to the bullying and intimidation from the Britain First leader Paul Golding and his BFD security team biffers.

“And to the lovely lady with the coffee cup, a big high-five to you.”

The Standard has contacted Lush for comment.
