Darwin Nunez Skies Sitter During Pre Season Friendly Against Manchester United

Nunez #Nunez

Darwin Nunez’s first appearance as a Liverpool player ended in abject failure, as he skied the ball over the bar in a position that looked easier to score.

Jurgen Klopp’s side didn’t start with a strong line up, whilst Erik ten Hag decided to go for the strongest team available to him, with Cristiano Ronaldo amongst those unavailable as he continues to force a move away from the club.

That brought on Nunez for his first appearance for the Champions League runners up, and it’s not a game he’ll be thinking back on too fondly.

He had the chance late on to restore some pride, with a consolation goal, after Mohamed Salah had hit the post, but the Uruguayan managed to sky the rebound over the bar.

Instead he has spent €100 million, but the former Borussia Dortmund manager’s comment was in response to United’s signing of Paul Pogba, who cost the club that much in Euros, not pounds.

Ronaldo’s decision to leave the club has now left them in even more trouble, although Ten Hag will at least be happy with what he saw on Tuesday.

United took the lead in the 12th minute through Jadon Sancho, with the winger slotting into the bottom corner after young Liverpool defender Isaac Mabaya failed to clear.

Fred doubled the lead with his wonderful chip before Anthony Martial, back with United for the first time since his loan spell to Sevilla, made it three before half time.

The French forward got on the end of a United move to chip Alisson in the opposition goal, as Klopp rang the changed very early.

Facundo Pellistri scored the fourth of the game in the 76th minute, but it was all about Eric Bailly’s brilliant run down the pitch, before Nunez rounded off a poor day for Liverpool.
