Northampton to appoint Susan Wright acting superintendent of schools

NORTHAMPTON — The school board is expected to name Susan Wright as acting Superintendent of the city’s K-12 school district during a special meeting Thursday night.

The committee is currently searching for a permanent replacement for John Provost, who left to become the Hamdpen-Wilbraham school superintendent.

Wright, who retired as the city’s finance director last week, previously served as business manager of the Northampton Public School district.

She is currently the district’s interim business manager, and, if appointed acting superintendent by the School Committee Thursday night, will wear both hats until an interim superintendent is named.

The school board is scheduled to publicly interview three finalists for the interim superintendent’s position at the July 7 remote-access meeting, as follows:

The candidates are: Jannell Pearson-Campbell, recently departed Old Rochester assistant superintendent; Marlene DiLeo, Ware superintendent; and Howard Eberwein, former superintendent in Pittsfield, and Lee .
