Alexander Volkanovski is now 3-0 over Max Holloway in head-to-head competition after emerging from UFC 276 as still the featherweight champion

Volkanovski (25-1 MMA, 12-0 UFC) took a big risk by fighting Holloway (23-7 MMA, 19-7 UFC) again after winning the first pair of bouts, but it paid off with a lopsided unanimous decision victory in the event co-headliner at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

It is now four consecutive title defense for Volkanovski, who extended his remarkable winning streak to 22 consecutive fights.

R1 – Alex vs. Max – Holloway with the pressure early. Nobody really landing just yet. Alex with the leg kick. Max with the leg kick. Max in to the body and barely avoids the counter. #UFC276

Round 1 in the books. Looks like Volk won it. His in and out movement was exceptional. The fight opened up near the end of the frame, though. Let’s see if that carries into the second.

Sean Sheehan

Fighting an intricate speed game in the pocket against the best fighter in the world at that is not working well for Holloway. He needs a big change. #UFC276

Holloway fighting game but not smart, walking into Volkanoski’s range. #UFC276

Volk is out jabbing the taller fighter and controlling the distances better. Very impressive work

— Matt Brown (@IamTheImmortal) July 3, 2022

Holloway is being too predicable and making Volkanovski’s job easier.

Chad George

that cut is terrible. I’m never one to say it needs to be stopped, BUT…..that cut needs it to be stopped. #UFC276

Kenny Florian

While the commentary seems to revolve around the speed of Volk, I’m more impressed by the traps that Alexander is setting up with his jab. Whether he’s luring Max in and countering or freezing Max up with feints and attacking, Volk is looking improved yet again.

I love Max Hollloway and will always be a fan of his, but Alex Volkanovski showing why I and many have him/have had him as the number one fighter, pound-for-pound, in the MMA world. Dude is the best and proved it to all, once again. Great message and display by the champ. #UFC276
