Paul McCartney fans furious as Glastonbury headliner’s set not shown live

Macca #Macca

Sir Paul McCartney became the oldest solo act to ever headline Glastonbury Festival when he took to the Pyramid Stage tonight (June 25). However, fans at home were left disgruntled as they couldn’t watch the iconic performance live.

The official Glastonbury Festival 2022 line-up stated that the Beatle would play from 9.30pm – which was correct, with our reporters at Worthy Farm confirming he did begin his set at that time. However, the BBC has put up a message on its online streaming channels indicating it would show a delayed broadcast of his set at 10.30pm, rather than his live performance.

It has left some fans not lucky enough to get tickets to Worthy Farm disappointed. They have taken to social media to share their reaction.

@Mugger1dge questioned: “Any idea why it’s not live.” @Barchetta66 added: “No bloody teasers because it ain’t on the telly!!!”

@putthetellyon angrily tweeted: “Well if that’s the case then it should be explained by the BBC and not presented to us as if it’s going out totally live at 10.30. I and many others just hate false information, it may be the case it’s always been like that but don’t promote it as live! #Glastonbury #PaulMcCartney.”

@wahaab6279 said: “He’s playing now but BBC deciding to put it on an hour later.” @woodina5 agreed: “What a stupid idea to delay the headline set Paul McCartney #Glastonbury2022.”

Other Twitter users found the funny side of the situation. @popwinesglasgow joked: “Where’s Macca?!? I can’t stay up this late at my age!!! @BBCiPlayer @PaulMcCartney @thebeatles.”
