LOVE Island viewers have been left in shock after Davide Sanclimente FINALLY addressed his eight-year age gap with Gemma Owen.

The Italian bombshell coupled up with footballer Michael Owen’s eldest daughter on the ITV2 dating show earlier this week.

Fans immediately complained about the large age-gap between the pair – with Gemma revealing on her entry to the show she was 19.

Davide, 27, was thought to not know about the difference in their age, since it had never been addressed by the pair on screen.

However, on Thursday night, the couple sat down to talk about the entrance of the new girls, Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Afia Tonkmor.

While they were talking, Gemma brought up their eight-year gap, asking Davide whether it “bothered him” or not.

“What do you think about the fact that I am much older than you, and you are not bothered about that?” Davide asked Gemma.

She replied: “No it’s not an issue for me at all -if it was then I wouldn’t have wanted to get to know you in the first place. It’s not something that I’m not used to or that you’re the only one.”

“For me, it’s not an issue, I actually think maybe you are more mature than me,” Davide joked back.

Fans at home were left in shock that Davide had known about the large age gap for the whole time – and took to Twitter to react.

“Davide asking if Gemma is worried about their age gap? Bro why are YOU not worried about it?” one fumed.

Another chimed in: “He just said the AGE GAP is not an issue? Wait there – just wait there,” alongside a police car emoji.

“OK so he knows she’s 19 and he’s fine with the age gap?” a third said alongside a sick-faced emoji, as a fourth added: “Disgusting.”

“How is Davide asking if Gemma’s fine with the age gap? Is he good? You creep, you should have the problem dating her,” a fifth wrote.

It comes after fans Davide had no idea about Gemma Owen’s age when he snogged her on Monday night’s episode.

But viewers furiously threatened to complain to Ofcom after 19-year-old Gemma Owen kissed Davide, 27.

However, fans raced to defend Davide saying he did not know her age at the time.

One wrote: “Can we take a second to realise that Davide may not even realise that Gemma is only 19. #LoveIsland”

Another posted: “I think people are over exaggerating this whole Gemma and Davide thing. She is technically an adult and it’s all dependent on maturity levels and where they are in life.

“Some people settle down at 21, some at 40. An eight year age gap can work if the two people are right. #LoveIsland”

A third said: “I don’t think the age gap is a problem – eight years is not a big deal. #LoveIsland”

On last night’s episode, Italian stallion Davide coupled up with Gemma, stealing her away from her current partner Liam Llewellyn.

Earlier in the episode, Gemma shocked her co-stars by revealing her real age.
