Diana Ross accused of miming during showcase Platinum Party at the Palace concert

Legendary ‘Queen of Soul’ singer Diana Ross has been accused of miming during her showcase performance at yesterday’s (Saturday’s) Platinum Party at the Palace concert.

Viewers took to Twitter after the event, broadcast on BBC One from Buckingham palace in tribute to the Queen’s 70 years on the throne.

An audience of 22,000 gathered at the event which also featured a stunning light show and a moving speech from Prince Charles.

Diana Ross took to the stage to close out the event for her first stage appearance in the UK for 15 years.

The Motown singer performed classics such as Chain Reaction and Ain’t no Mountain High Enough. But viewers following the show took to the social media platform to comment on the 78-years-old’s performance.

One user said: Sometimes you really need to take a closer look to get the picture” as another added: “Is Diana Ross miming or has my sky signal gone funny again? #partyatthepalace.”

Another commented: “Diana Ross blowing a kiss and you could still her singing at same time…that’s impressive,” while @prole10101 said:” Oh s—. Diana Ross is miming, it would seem.”

Others thought the same, writing “I mean it’s just great to see her but I think she’s for sure miming” while another agreed, saying “Lol Diana Ross just accidentally spoke over her vocal track. Miming!”

However, other were impressed by the mum-of-five’s performance, as one said: “Anyone tweeting about Diana Ross miming should google her age. She’s 78. If she needs some autotuning so what.”

The event also featured performances from acts such as Craig David and UK Eurovision runner-up Sam Ryder.

As the concert got underway Prince Charles paid tribute to his “mummy” the Queen. He said: “You laugh and cry with us and, most importantly, have been there for us, for these 70 years.”.

He added that serving the public was what “gets my mother up in the morning” and thanked her on behalf of the world.

The Queen did not attend the concert, but she opened the show appearing in a recorded sketch with Paddington Bear.

Prince William also spoke at the event, focusing on his family’s record of raising concerns about the planet and his optimism that people would unite to protect it.
