Good Samaritan whacked with his own hockey stick trying to stop Queens subway assault

A good Samaritan was whacked with his own hockey stick when he tried to stop an assault unfolding in a Queens subway station, police said Thursday.

The 54-year-old do-gooder intervened when he saw a man getting punched on the E train platform at the 23rd St.-Ely Ave. station in Long Island City about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, cops said.

The angry assailant turned his attention to the good Samaritan, head-butting him then grabbing the do-gooder’s hockey stick and hitting him with it before running off.

The good Samaritan was treated at Mount Sinai Queens for a neck wound.
