Nationals star Juan Soto’s stern 6-word take should put rest of NL East on notice

Juan Soto has opened up the 2022 season on a rollercoaster start, but this may all soon change to the delight of the Washington Nationals.

Soto entered the Nationals’ series finale against the Colorado Rockies having posted a .111 batting average to go along with a mere three RBI recorded in his last eight games. Amid his up-and-down 2022 campaign, he still has continued to find success in simply reaching base, as he has tallied for a National League-leading 40 walks so far this season.

Soto got back on track on Sunday, as he belted a two-run home run and recorded six total bases in the Nationals’ 6-5 victory against the Rockies.

Overall, he has had one notable takeaway from his recent showings at the plate.

“My swing has been way better,” Soto said after the Nationals’ home win over Colorado.

Soto further added that he has been “working” on both his swing and stance as of late.

After clinching the series win against Colorado, the Nationals moved to a 4-1 record in their last five contests. While they currently boast an 18-31 record, they did famously make a World Series-winning run back in the 2019 campaign after a 19-31 start to the season, although this year’s team does not bolster multiple notable All-Stars across the roster.

If Soto can indeed up his production at the plate, as was on display in seasons past, it could bode well for the Nationals’ odds of at the least making a push to turn things around in the coming months.
