Leicester City fans are furious that midfielder James Maddison has once again been left out of the England squad by Gareth Southgate.

After a slow start to the season, Maddison found his form in October and has not looked back since, going on to win the club’s Player of the Season award in what has been one of the best campaigns of his career. He has scored 18 goals in all competitions for Leicester this season, but Southgate preferred the likes of Bukayo Saka and Jarrod Bowen.

There is, however, a maiden England call-up for defender James Justin. The full-back recovered from a serious injury at the start of the season to have a successful few months and he has been rewarded by Southgate. It is a shame for him that his inclusion has been somewhat overshadowed by the decision to leave out Maddison. Below is a look at what supporters have been saying on social media.

@LDAWardle99 : 30 G/A for Madders not selected! But… Someone with 13 G/A and no goal involvements for months gets in ahead of him?! Make it make sense

@adamcocks87 : How is Maddison not in the squad? Southgate has raved about performance and consistency and the lad has proved doubters wrong.

@DanielL12813095 : Time maybe @Madders10 to see if you have any Scottish, Northern Irish or Welsh ancestors you can get a call up with. Personally your performances been outstanding.

@holyland2 : Does Madders have to join one of the top six to get a chance at a call up? Honestly don’t get it

@WTFox1884 : I don’t care much for the national side these days. 30 goals and assists this season isn’t enough to get a call up. Astonishing.

@blue_fox_91 : Happy with JJ getting called up but the fact Maddison in here is a farce. How can he be ignored. Southgate must be blind. What more does he have to do.

@abdul__azeem19 : Maddison ROBBED yet again

@lcfcawaydays_ : Great to see James Justin in the squad, however no Maddison is shocking.
