Liverpool star Joel Matip explains why he’s ‘tired’ of Sadio Mane and questions Roberto Firmino’s fashion sense

Firmino #Firmino

Joel Matip admires Roberto Firmino’s ability to take fashion risks – but the Brazilian’s garish threads aren’t necessarily to the Liverpool defender’s taste.

Ahead of the new Premier League season, where Liverpool begin their title defence LIVE on talkSPORT, we caught up with Matip to discuss all the important topics such as who his best and worst dressed teammates are.

And Firmino was at the centre of Matip’s response when Natalie Sawyer asked him who the best dressed player currently at Liverpool is.

Matip told talkSPORT: “Best dressed? (Laughs) Woah, that’s a good question!

“It depends on the style you prefer… but the guy with the biggest highlights is for sure Bobby Firmino. He always has the special things, I’d say.

“It’s unique and the way he dresses fits perfectly to him, not a lot of people could wear what he does.

“It looks good on him… for him it’s perfect. It fits him and that’s Bobby.”

But when asked who the worst dressed is, Matip couldn’t look past Firmino!

He added: “I don’t know, for some people it’s like ‘maaaa’… for others it’s the best of the best.

“Bobby, sometimes he’s like he’s come professionally and other times it’s like they couldn’t even pay me and I wouldn’t wear it.

“For him it’s perfect. For me it’s hmmm.”

Matip was also asked which Liverpool teammate he’d like to be stuck on a desert island with, picking James Milner as ‘he’d have a proper plan’ to get them out of danger.

What about music taste? Well, Matip admitted he’s getting a bit irritated by Sadio Mane’s…

Matip said: “Gini [Wijnaldum] always has a good taste of music. There are a few who listen to similar music but I’d say Gini.

“And for bad music, not bad, but the guy who’s always first in the gym and is first with the music is always Sadio and I’m tired of his music.

“He’s always first in the gym and he plays the music and I’m like ‘arrghhh, him again!’”
