NJ high school golf: Ethan Lee leads CBA to sectional title; Ranney, Marlboro advance to TOC

Ethan Lee has done it again.
The CBA senior make it three-for-three in major high school golf tournaments this season when he captured the NJSIAA South Non-Public A individual title Monday at Mountain View Golf Course in Ewing.
Lee fired a 1-over-par 72 in windy conditions for a two-shot victory over Saint Augustine’s Brendan Meager.
CBA rolled to the team title with a total of 318, some 13 shots clear of second place Saint Augustine.
Lee, who previously won the Monmouth County and Shore Conference tournaments, now goes for the area grand slam next Tuesday when he looks to win the individual title at the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions.
The feat was last accomplished by CBA’s Jack Wall as a junior in 2018, when he won the first three before securing the overall state championship at the TOC, with the Colts winning the overall team title that year.
A year ago, Lee shot 68 at the TOC and finished tied for fourth at Hawk Pointe, which once again hosts the event. The Colts won the Non-Public A title, finishing behind Westfield and Chatham in the battle for the overall team title.
Advancing to the TOC as an individual was Donovan Catholic’s Joe Benesch, who finished tied for fifth at 82
Rounding out the scoring for CBA was Evan Sorensen (81), Brian Mastrorilli (82) and Jonathan Raccuglia (82).
Non-Public B
With Kyle Hannan and John Welch leading the way with a pair of 82s, finishing tied for second, Ranney emerged as the winners in the South Non-Public B tournament at Mountain View.
The Panthers qualify for the TOC for the first time with a team total of 356, seven shots better than second place Bishop Eustace.
Qualifying as an individual was Saint Rose’s Liam Donnelly, who finished fifth with a 74.
Ranney completed the scoring with Sal Principato (93) and Noah Weiss (99).
Central/South Group 4
Middletown South junior Richard Reck birdied the first extra hole to emerge victorious in a four-way playoff at the Central/South Group 4 tournament at Charleston Spring in Millstone.
Story continues
Reck finished among a group at 2-over-par 74.
Finishing tied for fifth was Marlboro’s Arjun Malik, who fired a 75 to lead the Mustangs to the TOC. Marlboro finished second with a 326, behind only Shawnee, which finished at 318. The top two teams advance, with Middletown South finishing third at 328.
Qualifying for TOC as an individual was Howell’s Gabe Elkachouty, who finished tied for fifth with Malik.
Central/South Group 2
Wall will not be at Hawk Point to defend its Group 2 title from a year ago. The Crimson Knights had their streak of appearing in nine straight TOCs snapped, finishing third at the Central/South Group 2 tournament at Twisted Dune in Egg Harbor.
West Deptford came away with the team title with a 317 total, with Cranford grabbing the second qualifying spot at 324. Wall finished third at 330.
But Wall sophomore Pat Scenna will head to the TOC as an individual, finishing tied for third with a 77. Cranford’s Elliot Parker won the individual title with a 1-under-par 71.
