National reaction to the Mavericks’ Game 4 win over Phoenix: Chris Paul’s 2-0 ‘curse’

Chris Paul #ChrisPaul

After so much doom and gloom when the Mavericks returned from Phoenix down 0-2 in the series and looking thoroughly outmatched, Dallas has fought back to tie the series after a 111-101 win in Game 4 on Sunday.

Two main themes from the Twitterverse surrounding the game were the connections between Sunday’s win and the “Mother’s Day Massacre” vs. the Lakers in 2011, as well as the uncharacteristically poor performance from Chris Paul. Paul scored just five points before fouling out of the game with nine minutes left.

Here are some of the reactions to the Mavericks’ series-tying win:

The Mavs and Mother’s Day 3-pointers, I swear

Porzingis trade acquisitions Bertans and Dinwiddie have combined for 22 points on 6-of-7 3-point shooting. Somewhere in this building Nico Harrison is smiling.

22 points and 23 points are what the Suns scored in the SH. We can keep talking offense all we want but defensive STOPS is going to win you playoffs games!!! Jason Kidd came in with another great defensive game plan. Who said Luka couldn’t play defense?! Carry the hell on…

I’m old enough to remember the Suns arena chant “Suns in 4” at Game 2

Frank Ntilikina really does seem to bother Booker.

Mavs found something with that.

It’s a beautiful day on Frank Ntilikina island.

Bad officiating aside Mavs staff deserves a ton of credit for prepping their team for these last 2 games. Huge strat edge for Mavs

How can u not love DFS.

PHX had just 17 turnovers or more in 10 games all season. They’ve now done that in back to back games vs Dallas.

— Matt McClearin (@McMattRadio) May 8, 2022

Jason Kidd on Mavs drawing timely fouls: “We’re being taught by one of the best point guards ever on the other side. That’s pretty cool.”

— Tim MacMahon (@espn_macmahon) May 8, 2022

Where my Suns guys who told me Dallas wasn’t getting another game on Friday? Show yourselves.
