Danny Green, Sixers expect to shoot the ball better in Game 2 vs. Heat

MIAMI — The Philadelphia 76ers had a miserable Game 1 performance against the Miami Heat to open this Eastern Conference semifinals series. They shot only 6-for-34 from deep and they could not get their main shooters going on the offensive end.

Danny Green shot 1-for-5 from deep, Tyrese Maxey was 1-for-6, James Harden was 2-for-7, and Georges Niang shot a dreadful 0-for-7. If one goes back and watches the game, they were all pretty good looks. The Sixers were able to get themselves open, but they couldn’t take advantage of them.

Ahead of Game 2 on Wednesday, Green believes that he and the Sixers will shoot the ball much better.

“I think we had a good amount of decent looks collectively,” said Green. “I hope we don’t shoot that poorly again. You would expect that we wouldn’t, but we gotta find ways to keep ourselves in rhythm. Offensively, being sharper, finding good spacing, there’s some things we can adjust on, but we got some great looks.”

Green shot 36.4% from deep in Round 1 while Niang shot 66.7% from deep. The odds of them shooting that poorly again in this series are pretty low.

“I don’t know how many games I’m gonna go 0-for-7, I thought they were all pretty good looks and I think a lot of guys got really good looks,” said Niang. “It’s a make or miss league they say so you want them to go in. I’ll take those looks in a 7-game series over and over again.”

The Sixers will continue their Round 1 series in Miami on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
