Eagles undrafted free agent tracker: Eagles aggressive early

It’s time for the eighth round.

The NFL Draft is over but the Eagles are expected to be very aggressive as they add undrafted free agents to their team. The Eagles entered this draft thinking there would be a lot of talent to not get drafted.

“We think we are going to get guys after the draft that are going to be on our front board, and those are going to be extra picks, and we are hopeful some of the guys we would have considered in the sixth and seventh round, we get there,” Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said.

“From our perspective, we’re missing a fourth-round pick and a sixth-round pick, but we also got an extra player in this draft because of those picks.”

The Eagles had 70 players going into the draft. They traded for A.J. Brown and drafted five players, which means they have 76 on their 90-man roster — 14 open spots.

We’ll track all their UDFA signings here:

Mario Goodrich, CB, Clemson: The Eagles didn’t pick a cornerback but they added one quickly as the draft ended. And according to NFL Network, Goodrich is getting a UDFA contract with $217,000 fully guaranteed. To put that in perspective, the Eagles highest-paid UDFA last year was TE Jack Stoll, who got $122,500 guaranteed. Goodrich (6-0, 176) started all 12 games as a senior in 2021 with 48 tackles, 11 pass breakups and 2 interceptions.

Josh Jobe, CB, Alabama: The Eagles know they have a hole at CB and are trying to fill it. The Eagles are signing Jobe from Alabama, according to Matt Zenitz of On3Sports. Jobe (6-0, 182) was a two-year starter for the Crimson Tide. He dealt with a turf toe injury in 2021 and was unable to work out during the pre-draft process. He was expected to be a Day 3 pick, perhaps even early on Day 3.

Carson Strong, QB, Nevada: The Eagles have added a QB some thought would be taken relatively early. This signing is according to Kirsten Moran of Nevada SportsNet. Strong (6-3, 226) threw for over 4,175 yards with 36 touchdowns and 8 interceptions in 2021.

Josh Blackwell, CB, Duke: The Eagles are signing the 5-10, 183-pound Blackwell, according to Matt Lombardo. He’s undersized and missed most of the 2020 season with a knee injury. But he has track speed as his 4.34 at the Duke pro day showed. Blackwell didn’t have a single college interception but had 20 pass breakups, 7 of which came in the 2021 season.

Noah Elliss, DT, Idaho: The Eagles keep spending big money on UDFAs. This time, they are giving $240,000 guaranteed to Elliss, according to NFL Network. Elliss (6-4, 346) was a big-bodied nose tackle at Idago who was expected to be a Day 3 pick. The 23-year-old initially committed to Mississippi State but wasn’t academically eligible. Then he got to Idaho and tore his ACL in 2019. But he returned for 2020 and 2021 and has a bit of potential.

Kennedy Brooks, RB, Oklahoma: The Eagles didn’t draft a running back but added Brooks, who had three 1,000-yard seasons at Oklahoma. And they gave him $240,000 in guarantees, according to Jordan Schultz. Brooks isn’t super explosive but he still averaged 7.0 yards per carry in college and could be a decent part of a rotation.
