Former BBC Radio One DJ Tim Westwood, 64, has been accused of sexual misconduct by seven black women who claim he ‘abused his power’ in the music industry with one woman alleging the DJ ‘initiated sex with her using a condom with his own face on the wrapper’
Former BBC Radio 1 DJ Tim Westwood has been accused of ‘initiating sex’ with a woman using a condom which had his own face on it.
The 64-year-old DJ is facing multiple allegations of sexual misconduct by women who say he ‘abused his position in the music industry’ in a bid to exploit them.
Westwood is accused of unwanted sexual behaviour and touching from incidents that are alleged to have occurred between the years of 1992 and 2017.
Both the BBC and the Guardian have claimed they have heard ‘detailed accounts from seven women’ in a joint investigation into the behaviour of the former BBC Radio 1 DJ.
He has continued to deny the allegations made against him.

Lawyers acting for Westwood said he was a well-respected and highly successful DJ, adding: “Any suggestion that he acts, or has acted, in the way described would be false and seriously defamatory.”
Two of the women involved claimed they agreed to go to London to meet Westwood to discuss music and their plan to get into the music industry.
The women have alleged that instead of discussing music, Westwood ‘drove them to a flat to initiate unwanted sex’.
At the time, one of the women was only 19-years-old, while Westwood was 53.
The women told the BBC that the former BBC Radio 1 DJ phoned her up just one day after she gave him a demo of her music at a club night.

The pair met in a car, and the woman claims she was driven out of central London where the atmosphere in the car became ‘menacingly silent’.
At one point, the unnamed women told the BBC that Westwood tapped her on the arm to show he had exposed himself while he was driving the car.
“I’ve looked and I’ve seen and I’m like, ‘Oh, no, oh no, like, oh my God. Just don’t say anything. Don’t look. Don’t say anything’. And I’m hoping that’s enough for him to just… not,” she told.
The women went on to claim that she felt “completely powerless” and “very, very scared” while in the presence of Westwood.
She claims that Westwood took her to a flat, went to get a drink, and came back into the living room naked.
Westwood later allegedly used a condom which had his face on the wrapper – part of a campaign he’d carried out with Durex – before he initiated having sex with her.

“That’s when I noticed that he’s got a condom and he’s removed it from the packet and started putting it on,” she told the BBC.
“I remember the packet because they had this slogan on it. They had his face on the other side,” she claimed.
“I remember him throwing it down. I remember the fact that it was yellow. Like, I remember that very vividly because I remember that was kind of when my brain also started to shut down.”
The woman claimed Westwood initiated sex, and although she did not vocalise her misgivings, she was ‘frozen’.
“I didn’t have any sort of guard up for that situation,” she said. “It’s all very reactive … because it’s just happening. And the shock factor of it is so overwhelming that it kind of disorientates the rest of the way you think. It’s like you’re stunned.”
The woman then claims Westwood left the room and when he returned she had her bag on her lap to indicate she wanted to leave, and he took her to a train station.
Another of the seven women told the BBC she was 17-years-old when she met Westwood – who was at the time, in his mid-thirties.

The woman alleged that she was subjected to ‘unwanted oral sex’ after she agreed to meet with the DJ.
According to BBC reports, the seven women who have come forward with allegations against Westwood are all black.
The women, whose names have been changed to protect their identities, do not know each other, the BBC have confirmed.
The women are all set to detail their side of the story in an eye-opening BBC Three documentary, Tim Westwood: Abuse of Power.
The documentary is set to air on BBC Three at 9PM tonight.
The 64-year-old DJ was an early champion of hip-hop in the UK and hosted the first nationally-broadcast rap show on UK radio from 1994.
After almost 20 years on BBC Radio 1, he left the station in 2013 and currently has a show on Capital XTRA.
